Job Title: Financial Coach
Pay Rate: Up to $50 per hour, DOQ
Employment Type: Part-Time (20 to 40 hours per week)

Contract Type: 1099 Independent Consultant

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Northwest Native Asset Building Coalition (NWNABC) the Financial
Coach will work with clients to provide high-quality financial coaching and provide ongoing
support to continue to actively engage clients. NWNABC’s services focus on asset building and
financial education and providing the tools and resources needed to achieve financial
independence and prosperity. The Financial Coach will offer workshops, training programs, and
one-on-one support to help individuals and families manage their finances, build wealth, and
create sustainable futures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Conduct client financial coaching through one-on-one, couple, or small-group sessions
    and understand personal financial information. Then, develop strategies and plans to
    help clients meet financial goals
  • Possess the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of
    communication, such as web based, secure online chat, or video-based communications
    and secure video teleconference
  • Deliver presentations and workshops on personal finance topics and our services
  • Document services and gather session data for program reporting and evaluation
  • Achieve program goals for client impact and service outputs, taking initiative with client
    outreach
  • Participate in regular team meetings and continued skill-building training sessions
  • Research financial products, consumer rights, and resources on an ongoing basis
    o Due to the breadth of personal financial topics, the evolving nature of consumer
    protections and the shifting landscape of financial products and consumer
    resources, Financial Coaches are responsible for ownership of their ongoing
    learning and skill development
  • Represent NWNABC in media inquiries, at events within the field, and with peer
    organizations

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of two years of full-time experience in personal finance, education, social services, community organizing, or a related field.
  • Expertise in providing financial empowerment services to low- and moderate-income individuals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, education, social services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Personal Financial Consultant
Required Skills and Attributes:
  • Self-motivated – able to work independently, meet deadlines without supervision and take
  • ownership of personal finance research and continued learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ideally coaching and facilitation skills
    with adults or in non-traditional settings
    o Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have the necessary skill sets to empathize with clients about their financial
    situations while motivating and moving clients toward positive action
  • Ability to exercise knowledge-based professional judgement and discretion to adapt
    services as needed
  • Ability to maintain detailed records
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively receive and implement feedback
  • Work in a cross-cultural setting
  • Travel within state, including overnight travel, may occasionally be required
